After a spell away from the police force, when a drugs bust went wrong, Detroit undercover cop Nick Tellis (Jason Patric) is persuaded back to help uncover the murderers of a fellow officer. He is teamed up with the dead officer's partner, Henry Oak (Ray Liotta), who seems to work on his own violent agenda. As the duo become more involved in the complex trail to the murderers, they find their lives are being ruled by the crime; Tellis begins to ignore his wife and newborn baby, and Oak becomes even more volatile.

Warning - Foot Fetishist Director
I'd seen 'Narc' years ago and remembered it as being a good gritty film. Obviously I hadn't watched it from the start. Within the first five minutes, a young woman arrives home to find her husband/boyfriend asleep on the couch, so she takes her shoes and socks off and sticks her bare foot in his face. That was as far as I got. The director was Joe Carnahan. Of the million and one things he could have instructed the actress to do, this is the one he chose. Not for the first time I'm left asking myself, what is it with these directors? Why does it always have to have something to do with feet? I was expecting this DVD to become part of my collection. The disc ended up in the bin.

Very good movie
I would say Narc is a very underrated movie, it is similar to the Shield in it's style of direction and presentation. It has a very realistic feel to it and is very entertaining.

Neo Noir
This is a good little neo-noir crime film. What is neo-noir?New film noir... and what is film noir?... A darker look in tothe dark heart of humanity. A place where good and bad, live in the shadows, and all that you see, is not all thatis true... Well, that's how I see it. Film noir has a style, and this movie has this style, and the plot is in the samefilm noir style... So you could call this a "classic" film-noir,which it is... But I will stop here, as there has been millionsof words written about Film-Noir, for me to add any more. You either like film-noir, or you don't. I fall into the "like"category. Having said all the above, this is a good crimemovie, with very good cinema-photography. Nuff said...
