300+ Mathematical Pattern Puzzles: Number Pattern Recognition & Reasoning (Improve Your Math Fluency) - Kindle edition by McMullen, Chris. Download it once and read it on your Kindle device, PC, phones or tablets. Use features like bookmarks, note taking and highlighting while reading 300+ Mathematical Pattern Puzzles: Number Pattern Recognition & Reasoning (Improve Your Math Fluency). Review: This book hit The spot. - I used to do math puzzles for fun when I was a teenager and loved them. I work in healthcare and use math occasionally in my job but not enough to keep it sharp and I missed the thrill of problem solving from my university math classes. I got this book for some nostalgia and to indulge my math craving. It was a welcome workout for my atrophied mental math muscles haha. I've definitely enjoyed this book. I've been going in order and I'm about halfway done. The first few chapters are easy but still stimulating enough for enjoyment. It does get a little harder when it gets to the primes since prime numbers aren't as intuitive. Can't wait to get to the powers, factorials and algebraic sequences. I didn't want to put it down. It has some refreshers and explanations etc but be mindful it is primarily a workbook which is exactly what I wanted. Review: Great for any skill level - Creative, thorough, and engaging. I like that this book gives an introduction to each category of puzzles and doesn't just toss you into the deep end. It gives you the basic tools to learn when to look for, then presents increasingly difficult challenges. I like every workbook of this author's that I've bought and this is no exception. Even if you don't think you're good at math puzzles, this book is absolutely for you.

It’s great but needs a few fixes.
I really like the mental work out. There are 2 things I think it should be worked on. It never changes the levels. In a game called Big Brain you can choose easy metal and hard. This one is always the same. Also, the small annoying thing is say you play a game at the bottom and you finish. It always goes to the very top of the game.

Makes You Think!
My family and I love logic puzzles. We make regular road trips (3 hours or less one way) and we take logic puzzle books with us every time for on the road and when arrive at our destination. I decided to do something different than the typical logic puzzle books and found this math book. I've been great in math all my life and some family members are accountants and controllers. This book will make you think and you'll have to google things you learned in high school years ago! LOVE THIS! This was a H-I-T with the family!

This is to take some time.
Mind working new more paths. Making me think some dare, dare nots. Combos are good together.

Engaging puzzles for 10yo
Good to keep and develop math skills. Some puzzles are tedious, some unnecessarily obscure but most are engaging.

Great little workbook! :)
I'm a big fan of Chris McMullen's workbooks, generally just for the extra practice problems. This one, though, is really well done. It isn't advanced, but is a nifty little book to give kids an idea of how to look for the pattern (instead of the answer.) Most of the patterns are pretty clear, but there are enough slightly tricky ones to throw a kid off their game if they're just trying to find an answer or taking the "This is easy, I don't have to work at it" approach. The schools do very little (if any) pattern work with the kids and it's on the dang SAT, so they need to learn it and they must begin somewhere. This is an EXCELLENT place to begin. Now if he'd just write a tougher one. I cannot seem to find a good book for the next step up.
