Lipper International 584WN Child's Work Station Desk and Chair, Walnut Finish

This is a great desk and the quality is very good for the price. My husband put it together in about 45 minutes and commented on the quality. I was searching for a desk for my 4 th grader and found that most of them are for toddlers or under 5 years old in terms of size. This desk is perfect for an older child such as 7 years or older. I bought this for my 9 1/2 year old and the desk and chair which come together fit her perfectly and will last for a few years. She can do homework or arts and crafts on it and the desk top surface is quite wide. The book shelves allow you to keep clutter off of the desktop. She loves her new desk and so do I!

I searched high and low for the perfect desk for my 5 year old, most are not made of wood or don't have the shelves. This is well made and perfect sized! Arrived faster than anticipated, I am Pleased!

Really like this desk and chair. Went together easily and is solid. Chair is pretty small for my large 8 year old but does the job. Would not really for a large teen.

First unit came in broken and had to replace. Second unit came in although not broken, ended up had to make a couple of drill holes for screws. The hardware is terrible quality and three screws stripped. Because of this, chair is now wobbly and almost unsafe for my son to use. I give it a month or two before it breaks and becomes firewood. Originally wanted to change it for a different desk but Amazon Customer Support said it was to late to cancel because of the shipping sequence it was in and unable to cancel. Seriously, look elsewhere and don't waste your money on this horribly engineered product.

This desk is a walnut finish and light one at that, NOT espresso, which is what I searched and saw when I ordered this for my daughter's birthday to match her existing bedroom set. I wish I had seen that both finishes were used to describe the same piece (simultaneously, not as different options) beforehand. This does not match and the wood is soft and easily dented, with several albeit small marks already on several pieces upon arrival. Furthermore and worse, the assembly was a nightmare due to poor craftsmanship. Most of the steps were fairly simple, except that the seat was not pre-assembled properly: the back piece to which the frame must be attached was somehow detached with the screws loose at the bottom of the box. That was our first problem to solve. The greater, more frustrating and damaging problem was when we discovered that one of the bookshelves was improperly pre-drilled for assembly. The holes didn't line up and the board split. Because we've no time left to return this garbage and order another (different) desk in time for my daughter's birthday, we've gotten creative, flipped pieces, drilled our own holes, etc. to make this work for the time being. I just hope I can save other customers from the same disappointment. My only consolation is that she is still young and I won't have to worry about her ruining a quality piece of furniture. I just wish I hadn't paid what I estimate to be $100 more than this thing is worth.

So far so good! The only problem was the knob for the drawer! The screws that came with it were too short!

The desk came with all the screws and tools needed to put it together, and too no more than 30 minutes to assemble. Our 6 year old loves it. It is a good size and he will have some time to grow into it. It is decently durable and should hold up well as he starts using it for homework and other projects.
