Does this fan rotate?

The fan tilts up and down and you can move it left and right, but it does not rotate. However,at 18 inches, this is a huge fan that blows a swath of air that is wider than my 12 inch Cinni oscillating fan, and you don't have to wait for the air to come around every time. We get a hot week or two every year at the beach, and it would have been murder without this fan. I have used it for two summers and I really like it! Stay cool!

Does it come with a remote control?

No.If you are in an apartment and the mean landlady says no to a window mounted AC, for fear it will fall from the window and crush some poor clown on the street, this isn't a bad substitute. You will get by on 1/2 or 3/4 speed. If you get up to make a sandwich, you do notice the difference right away but feel better back in front of it. But no, no remote and it doesn't sweep.

Is this fan suitable for outdoor use if it gets rained on - does it have a sealed motor?

No, this fan's motor is not sealed or protected from the weather.
