I do recommend the audiobook for help with word pronunciation Review: Beautiful book about Cherokee being grateful throughout the year. - I used this book for a mini unit study in homeschooling. This is a wonderful book looking at a year in the life of a Cherokee family and all the things they celebrate and are thankful for. I love how it shows the changes in the trees as the year progresses. I used these to make our science about the changing seasons and trees. We studied the Trail of Tears for our History part which is mentioned in this book. It tells of Cherokee holidays and how they celebrate them also. We loved this book!! Our favorite part was how it gave the Cherokee word, the pronunciation, and then the word written in the Cherokee language.

Must have
A great book for children and people of all ages. The artwork is fantastic and perfect for this story. The amazing part is that it includes cool Cherokee words for the kids while also sharing subtle information about Cherokee culture. It isn’t too wordy and hard for children to grasp which makes it a great cultural book.

I love the inclusion of Cherokee language
Beautifully written and illustrated. I love that it includes a syllabary and Cherokee terms. Excellent book. English vocabulary is easy for my 2nd grader. Pronunciation of Cherokee is a bit more of a challenge but so love the exposure.

Nice read
It’s a good source for my daughter, the words are challenging to pronounce but overall a good purchase. I like that she can learn about her ancestry in this way.

A beautiful book in every way
This important book gives readers a peek at the lives of modern-day citizens of Cherokee Nation. It follows a Cherokee family through each season and shares the many things, big and small, they are grateful for. Representation in children's literature is necessary, and this book offers a window into the lives of a culture many children may not know much about. It allows young Cherokee readers to see themselves in a book. This is truly a must-have for library, classroom, and personal collections.

This book's interest relies on some interesting facts about the Cherokee culture. Leaving that apart, it is not graphically appealing and the story is very descriptive without an interesting plot. Seems to be a reference book, depicting the living of a minority culture, but not worth the praises am reading here. Creating sensitivity about the cultures of minority groups and being able to see the point of view of Cherokee people is very good and interesting (when many of us have grown watching westerns with a completely different point of view). However, this piece of work by itself is not good in storytelling and art is worse than average.
