Cullmann CU 52501 Nanomax 250 Tripod with 3-Way QR Head (Black)

I was looking around for an inexpensive, all-purpose tripod, and having a difficult time picking from among the many choices. A colleague recommended I look into Cullmann. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend for a "cheap" tripod, but I entertained the curiosity nonetheless.Some research revealed that Cullmann makes nice stuff. It's not the generic, rebranded crap that you see in the $20-$50 range (Slik, Velbon, et cetera, et cetera).So, having settled on the brand, I was leaning toward the 220 model, but its maximum deployed height isn't very tall, and I'm not fond of the head...so I went with the 250.I've been using it for about three months now. I've shot video with it using a a Sony PD-150 (3.5 lbs), and have used it extensively with a Sony DSC-H20 for stills. It's forte is stills, to be sure, but it's more than serviceable for video, especially for places where you can't fit/carry/etc a larger tripod. The macro feature is a nice bonus, and it works well as a mono-pod for those situations when you need one.All in all, highly recommended. The best tripod in this price bracket, in my opinion.

I was looking for a travel tripod and I thought this was it. The description shows 11.4 x 2 and 2.3 pounds. It turns out to be 18 x 3 and 2.7 pounds. I already have a tripod that size that won't fit into my travel backpack. I ordered this item on Saturday but it didn't arrive until Wednesday. It should have been delivered in 2 business days (prime membership). That's a long time to wait for an incorrect item and I'm running out of time to find a different travel tripod for my vacation.

I agree with a lot of the favorable description of this product. The Cullmann Nanomax 250 was just the right size for traveling when I want to use my big pack's detachable daypack for walking around. Collapsed, it fit, but it fit by a narrow enough margin that it gave me a good amount of height in use. It worked smoothly. It lasted long enough to make it through my initial tests and to get most of the way through the first day of my trip. Then a leg locking clip just fell apart and could not be reassembled. Fortunately I was not anywhere very exotic, and I got a good SLIK tripod from a camera store the next day.Maybe a good sample would do better. I wouldn't risk it. I think one star is fair since this kind of unreliability makes the good features worthless.Cullmann offers a ten year guaranty on this product. Since the cullmann.de website shows no U.S.A. address for service, the guaranty was as useful to me when I got home as it was to me when trying to take a picture with the falling-apart tripod.As a matter of principle, I sent the tripod to Cullmann in Langenzenn for warranty service. It cost me $24.50 in postage. They have repaired it. The package they sent me has 16.90 [Euros?] worth of Germany stamps on it. It looks very good. However, unreliable is unreliable, and I have other tripods, so I will probably give it to my coworker.

Having owned several tripods over the years I can say that this one is probably about as light and compact as it's possible to go whilst retaining necessary stability. A very good little tripod, easy to use and with a surprisingly useful maximum height. Glad I bought it.

Ho acquistato questo treppiede qualche mese fa e ho avuto modo di utilizzarlo in diverse situazioni.L'ho utilizzato principalmente con una Pentax K30 + Pentax SMC DA 17-70 SDM per un peso complessivo superiore di poco a 1 kg.Il treppiede in questione è molto stabile e regge senza problemi anche accoppiate piuttosto pesanti come quella di cui sopra. Non saprei dire come se la caverebbe con ottiche ancora più pesanti ma direi che si tratta di un ottimo prodotto. Gradevole esteticamente, curato nei dettagli, buoni materiali e pratica custodia a tracolla per il trasporto.Tornando indietro lo ricomprerei senza remore.Consigliato a chi vuole spendere una cifra ragionevole e portarsi a casa un prodotto di qualità e che permetta di ottenere scatti di qualità anche in condizioni difficili.

Puede que para un profesional no sea el mejor tripode del mundo, pero para cualquier amateur, es genial. Fuerte y robusto suficiente para una reflex y videocamara normal. Movimiento de la rótula muy suave (yo lo quería para video) de forma vertical, horizontal e inclinado. Por supuesto viene con su funda y si te registras en la web de CULLMAN tienes 10 años de garantía. Casi nada. Y en Amazon me ha costado a la mitad de precio que en un establecimiento que no es tonto. Muy buena compra.

An dieser Stelle nur die Ergänzung, daß dem Stativ keine Gebrauchsanweisung beiliegt - eine grundlegende Vorkenntnis über 3-Wege-Stativköpfe ist also von Vorteil.Die Beine des Stativs weisen oben eine kleine Nase auf, die als Winkelbegrenzer dient. Weist sie zur Mittelsäule, ist die enge Beinstellung eingestellt. Man kann diese Nase um 180° nach außen drehen, damit wird die weitere Beinstellung erreicht.Die Mittelsäule ist per Schraubgewinde teilbar. Die untere Hälfte wird einfach abgeschraubt, damit die Minimalstellung von 29 cm bei weiter Beinstellung und eingefahrenen Beinen realisierbar ist. Dem Makrofotografen, dem das immer noch nicht genügt, sei gesagt, daß man die Mittelsäule nach dem Auseinanderschrauben auch ganz einfach um 180° nach unten gedreht in die Halterung einführen kann. Die Kamera hängt dann über Kopf zwischen den Beinen und kann in dieser Stellung ohnehin beliebig bodennah eingestellt werden.Die Kamera wird auf einer Wechselplatte befestigt, die ihrerseits per Hebelverschluß am Stativkopf festgemacht wird. Einfach, praktisch und haltbar. Genial ist die Idee, der Stativbuchsenschraube an der Wechselplatte einen Halbring zu spendieren, der hochgeklappt als Handgriff zum Einschrauben dient. Auf der Wechselplatte ist außerdem noch ein Richtungspfeil eingraviert, damit man immer weiß, in welcher Ausrichtung die Kamera darauf montiert werden muß.Trotz Alu und Hartplastik macht das Stativ einen sicheren und stabilen Eindruck; das gilt auch für die Hebel, Schrauben und Bedienelemente. Da der Kopf maximal 3 kg (Herstellerangabe) trägt, empfiehlt sich das Stativ eher für Amateur-DSLRs denn für Profis und professionelle Studios. Meine Leichtgewichtskamera (Canon EOS 1000D) mitsamt dem relativ schweren und voluminösen Tamron AF 70-300 F4,5-5,6 Di LD MACRO 1:2 trägt es ohne Probleme.Ausschlaggebend für den Kauf war für mich die optimale Mischung aus relativ professioneller Machart bei geringem Gewicht und kleinem Packmaß. Auf dieses Modell gestoßen bin ich übrigens nach einem euphorischen Testbericht in "Chip Foto-Video digital", Ausgabe 05/2010 - also diese Leute haben einen Marktüberblick, und wenn die schon begeistert sind ... ! Dort wurde das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis übrigens als "wahres Schnäppchen" angesehen, obwohl Cullmann das Nanomax 250 ganz regulär für 50 Euro abgibt. Zu diesem Eindruck trägt auch bei, daß belastbare Tragetasche und Schaumstoffkaschierung der Beine üblicherweise bei sehr viel teureren Stativen dazugegeben werden.Fazit: Für Einsteiger, die ihr Stativ auch gerne mal ein paar Meter unterwegs tragen wollen können, unbedingte Kaufempfehlung! Zu diesem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis gibt es kaum Alternativen!

Nice lightweight tripod, Handles a small spotting scope with ease on still days, I use it for macro photography work for which it is brilliant in the field. Very easy to carry.
