TL-21 Alligator Test Lead case (for DE-5000 Handheld LCR Meter)

If you damage the original this is a direct replacement.

These are a genuine replacement set of leads for your DE-5000. Mine were still good however and I made this out of my old ones. I used 4x60cm bits of RG174 for the leads with kelvin clips on the ends for testing inductors. They work perfectly and so do the new replacement aligator clips I received.

This is identical to the original that came with the meter. I am planning to modify it to have a set of kelvin clips (4 wire measurement) that give a little more reach than the original alligator clips. Internally, this test lead case works with 4 wire measurement, so it should be an easy modification.

I bought this as an extra to make the De5000 lead extension with the Atoplee Kelvin leads. After soldering it up, I could not get it to pass calibration. After using a continuity tester on EVERYTHING I could think of with the leads I thought I better check the TL-21 because the other TL-21 I got with the meter worked fine.I found that the solder bridge to the blade that connects to ground was NOT soldered, it appears that the solder bridge that should be there did not stay on the blade PCB. After soldering that back together everything works fine, and I now have functional 2 foot long Kelvin leads. Took off one star because of the bad solder joint. Quality Control?

The price of the TL-21 is historically all over the place, but when it's available for a reasonable price, all is good. I hate modding these to use Kelvin clips, but it's necessary... :)

These go with the great DER EE DE-5000 LCR meter. I upgraded the well made TL-21 to full Kelvin clips as per the Youtube videos and the meter now measures 0.003 ohms accurately! (Kelvin clips achieve accuracy by measuring current and voltage simultaneously through individual contacts.)
