The wonderful world of Louis Armstrong
Not for nothing is Satchmo the first name you hear when you take your first hesitant step into the world of jazz. His distinct vocals and the accompanying music set any of his songs in a place of their own. The all time sugar pill 'What a Wonderful World' could be one's sole reason to covet the album, yet it is not. This album also features 11 other masterpieces from the maestro. His renditions of the evergreen classics, 'When the saints go marching in' and the hymn 'Swing low sweet chariot' are imprinted so deeply in my mind now that if anyone refers to these songs - I can only remember these versions. Hello Dolly from the musical sounds perfect, and even one when is alone, one can so easily hum up the whole song with one's mind's ears. If you are one of those set-up-the -room and let the music -flow over me kinds, go ahead. For £5 quid nothing comes even a close second!
