3M Paint and Rust Stripper, 03171, 4 in

What can I say except that it does exactly what 3M claims it does. I'm using it as a make-do bench grinder using an old heavy-duty Black and Decker drill clamped in a vise, and I've only used it to remove rust from some old spring clamps, but it worked like a champ. My impression is that it's quite durable and should last a good while, especially if you don't jam the edge of a workpiece up against it and are otherwise careful about the direction of rotation. A bonus for me is that it's only 5/8: thick, which makes it easy to get into narrow spaces that a bench grinder can't, and you can approach it from almost any angle for even more versatility.

I love using these on a drill press when cleaning up small parts. They do wear quickly though.

Awesome stripping power!

I love these. I use them to remove old bark and underlying bard residue for wood items I make. They are not too hard and not too soft, just the right material and flexibility I need to get into rounded/offset edges.

The wheel worked well, but other much less expensive wheels work well also. So is it worth the price differential? Probably not.

Works great. However if you have glass tiles like I do, this tool scratches the glass horribly. I knew this, but didn't care. The pool looks so much better with the calcium removed.

Aunque es marca 3M, me parece un disco muy rigido, ademas produce rayones grandes en el material, si quita el oxido pero los rayones que hace perjudican el acabado.

Ok. Bought this on a whim. I have a small 2 bed cabin on an island which has been painted at least 9 million times and I wanted to strip it all off and repaint the whole thing! So this thing did it. Well I should say 3 of them did it! I bought 2 more! Oh and try to use an electric drill. I was cooking thru both my 18 Ryobi and 18v DeWalt drills batteries real fast. Wear eye protection!!! This thing flings small paint chips fast and pretty much everywhere. But damn it works!

Good at scraping paint/rust off round steel pole. Not quite as instant as a hard disc but shapes itself nicely to get better coverage.
