Saco Cultured Buttermilk for Cooking and Baking, Powdered, 12 oz

So happy I found this powdered buttermilk. I've been using it for about 5 or 6 years now . I make pound cakes regularly and never seem to have fresh buttermilk on hand. 4 tablespoons mixed with one cup of water does the job every time makes for a perfect cake every time. I don't lose any of the quality or Texture with this dry product versus fresh. I buy a few at a time because they store well in the pantry. They also work well for pancakes, waffles and biscuits or any recipe that calls for buttermilk.

Product received intact. The price is very good compared to any grocery store. I use this powdered buttermilk to make my homemade jar pancake and waffle mix. This product is great for those occasional recipes that require buttermilk. Can also use for bread making. Simply follow directions on can for dry or liquid use. HINT: after opening keep in refrigerator it will become as hard as a brick if placed in pantry. Highly recommend.

Many of my bread recipes call for buttermilk, but it's not my choice of casual drink. I tried this powder and tasted it after mixing it in water; it's pretty good. I've found that warming the water and using a corded hand held mixer gives the best results, though one would argue that it might not make much difference in the dough. My breads, with this in them, taste better and have a softer, firmer texture. For some reason, not available locally. I might try them in doughnuts.

So much more efficient than having liquid buttermilk. Works great for baking

I’ve used this product to make buttermilk bread in a bread machine for over ten years. It’s also good for other recipes. And you can use it when you want to soak chicken in buttermilk before cooking. The container I received yesterday smelled strongly of chemicals from being shipped with non-food items which reeked of chemicals. It’s likely that the chemicals off-gassed during shipping and transferred to my food items in the same box. I might have to throw this container away because it’s cardboard and it can’t be washed thoroughly to get the chemical odor off. But I will continue to purchase and use this product because it’s so handy. And it can be stored for awhile in the fridge. It’s cheaper than having to buy fresh buttermilk on a regular basis.

This is the best buttermilk powder I've ever used. My local stores don't stock it so easy to buy from here. The taste is so good!
