Its a rod, it works for what it is!

In spite of the large rake head - which is a plus - I was able to get the snow off of the aluminum roof on my 3-season room. This is my first roof rake and I am happy with it. Hopefully this is the end of the snow here on LI for this year!

The original snow roof rake is poorly built to begin with. You get the sense it will snap at any time. Adding this extension simply exacerbates the problem.

Extension rod assembly sometimes a problem because the knob finishes up a bit short of the hole. I had to cut a thin shim off one piece to allow it to insert fully into the other piece. But it does the job on leaves just fine. I suspect it will be OK for soft snow as well.

Snow Joe was purchased to replace our broken roof rake. (Our broken roof rake was purchased at Home Hardware some years ago and the poles cracked at the joints. The first few times, we were able to repair them.) New ones were back-ordered at Home Hardware so we tried this one. The handles are nice and long but the raking head does not rake snow very well. It is flat and thin -- fine for light snow but cannot cope with heavy deep snow. The raking head of our previous rake is curved and raked snow along very well So we took the raking head from our broken rake and attached it to the Snow Joe handle. The combination works quite well.

This extension is just like the poles that come with the snow rake - light and good quality aluminum. Unfortunately there is enough flex in each one of these that with all poles attached the entire snow rake to create a significant arch and make the rake quite hard to control. I'm 6'5" and it's a workout to manhandle this thing with all of the poles (including the extension) attached.It will work if you're strong enough for it and need the extension but this extension really does make the rake a lot harder to control
